How Bitcoins changes the economics?

We must have recently learned about the virtual currency that is recognized in the digital community as the Digital Gold. We all must have come across online social games where collecting coins determines how well you have performed in the game like the recently popular game app TempleRun. With those coins, we could unlock other stages, players, equipments and other innovative features that helps us survive in the game and get addicted to it. Similarly, there are coins which are used to buy and exchange real products in a new currency form known as Bitcoins.

What is a Bitcoin?

These Bitcoins are not controlled by any government or banks, but are algorithmically designed intangible, digital form of currency that efficiently controls the flow of money. Today, almost $750m worth Bitcoins are traded and stored through the digital wallets. One can get Bitcoins by a concept called Online Mining, like the concept in mining of gold. By running an online store that accepts Bitcoins, or by exchanging dollars, yens, pounds etc to Bitcoins or by mining bitcoins through computer generated problems, we can acquire and use the Bitcoins. The current value of 1 Bitcoin is almost $120 and the value is volatile like the stock markets. The maximum amount of Bitcoins that can be traded and stored has a cap of 21 Million and not a single Bitcoin more.

So how does this affect the economics?

In the ancient times, different metals were exchanged to barter goods among different communities, which represented amount of grains stored. Then came the coinage, where metals were mined, weighed and stamped into different coins of gold, silver and copper. Then, the need for credit and a currency that was less burdensome to exchange led to the introduction of Paper Money from the Pre-modern China.

As Bitcoins are gaining more popularity by the attributes it showcases like acceptability, design, limited supply and easy transfer without processing fees, the economics of money will be altered in bits.

1. While some people in the US government feel that the government is excessively printing money, for the money circulation and its link to productivity and employment opportunities, they are devaluing the dollar. If Bitcoins are introduced and gains acceptability, due to its maximum cap of 21 Million, the excess printing of money will be discontinued, which alters the economics of money supply.

2. Moreover, if Bitcoins are introduced, the transfer of bitcoins through buying/selling products which are legal or illegal in nature cannot be tracked. This definitely excites the ones involved in money laundering, manipulating the black money and other illegal activities.

3. Bitcoins also eliminate the possibility of transfer of dollars by paying a significant sum of fees to payment portals like PayPal, CCAvenue etc. These middlemen companies have no role in the transfer of Bitcoins. Similarly, the processing fees charged through central banks will also be eliminated. And governments, individuals, companies can transfer money without the need of these middlemen.

4. In Bitcoins, the money supply is fixed by design, which is a limiting factor and thus will be highly volatile in terms of dollar exchange rates.

5. There is a possibility of hacking the digital wallets in which the bitcoins will be stored and hence one cannot recover the bitcoins once stolen, this excites the hacker community in general. There is no way to track these stolen bitcoins though Bitcoins are cryptographically designed.

Though, the new virtual currency is in the talks, the role of governments will be the most important factor in determining the life of Bitcoins. Till then in God we trust.

When Ideas generate Pulses.

Sometimes, we go through an intriguing phase of determining something which we always wished to do, irrespective of the background we belong to. Ideas are like the fitting moments that passes, until we don’t realize it. It not just lead to sleepless nights, but also fuel some pulses in the wired brain. Here are few tips, how to catch hold of these ideas which might just change our lives,

1. Ideas are crazy, do not get paranoid and pass: Sometimes we come across something bizarre, and the left skull won’t mind to pass. Remember, the best ideas in life have come from unexpected and weird places. Think again, do not pass. There is just a difference of one idea between you and rest of the world.

2. If you are into something else, take a pause: If you are doing something else, and you get inspired from a moment. The best thing to do is to leave everything what you are doing and take a pause. For the first time, it won’t make sense. But for the second, third and so on, it will definitely make much more sense of what you’re thinking. I was sleeping when an idea crossed my mind, around 3 AM in the morning, I suddenly got up and noted it down in my laptop.

3. Search for a paper, note it down: Though, this can be a tedious and boring task to do, but writing an idea on a paper will give a direction to the idea and make it more credible to conceptualize. One of friend suggested me of doing this, and it definitely helped me.

4. Nothing is too big or small: Most often people lose an elevating opportunity in terms of its scale and scope. Remember, the best ideas has just solved a single core problem and then modified around it for value additions. No idea is too big or small. The vision and the courage is a differentiator from a good idea to a bad idea.

5.Dont stop dreaming: Dreams are possibly the best creative and accurate workplace for humans. The best ideas come in dreams and it just sometimes solves a purpose. Though subconsciously, our brain is always on the go. Don’t lose out on dreams. Our duty is to fulfill it or live it.

A Piece of Paper

As the clock struck past thirty minutes to seven, I approached the tutor who just left the class with a spellbinding session on English Usage and Vocabulary. I introduced my blog to him, and asked him for a topic to crib upon. In a fitting second, he tore a piece of paper from a book and gave it to me. And this left me baffled for a moment with a subject I can creatively ponder upon.

A Piece of Paper

What does a piece of paper mean to all of us? Metaphorical or hyperbolical?

For some its an unfulfilled dream. For some a leadership style. For some a factoid. But for many, it was living.

Piece of paper is a symbol of creating history. Today, the essence of paper is soft-pedaled due to the emerging work-flow on the internet and the discovery of manmade machines. All the ancient scriptures, manuscripts, inventions and stories are made on this finest invention of the Chinese. Without it, the world would not have been more compact. The world’s best poetries were written on that piece of paper in the woods, or in the dark. It has an impact which is far-lived and implausible. A best piece of paper is often a rare piece of art and thoughtfulness. It is a tool, not just for those creative heretics, but for the commons.

A dream is not broken, until it’s not lived. A piece of paper symbolizes dream which is not lived. I believe, until and unless we don’t put in enough efforts to live it, we are like that torn piece of paper. As we say nothing is rewritten, but pre-written. With that one piece, we can make destiny dance over dreams.

Leadership is a behavior which is observed and experienced by many. Be it small or big. A piece of paper is a piece, even if its big or small. Just like it, leadership is like that piece of paper. Some have more stories to the journey, and some just enough to inspire. Leadership is not just leading by choice, but by example. A piece of paper is a simple epigram to those journeys based on values and leadership without complexities.

A factoid is an information bowl shared and exchanged from nations to companies to individuals. It is an agreement, a bond, a policy, an article and a shredded trash. A piece of paper is thus a utility for the commons, and a more day-to-day necessity. Be it anything, anywhere.

When I talk about living, ask the ones who have lived their heart out on a novel, a book, a prose or a poetry which instigated revelations and revolutions. To those ancient messengers, an eighteenth century poet, a twentieth century architect or a nineteenth century infamous sci-fi novelist, they know how understatement a piece of paper is. That was a living worth the dime, and for the dime. It has created almost everything and anything we see around. And we know that life’s simple inventions has created the best discoveries. That is living, by that piece of paper, and for that piece of paper.

Just so that we don’t make a satire out of sarcasm, we can add meaning to it ourselves.

One important task to do : Take an A4 Size paper, and list down all the words which you want to live, or experienced before. And then encircle it if lived. And then see a story taking over. You never know, if history has it.

I have been doing it myself and I love it when I glance it each morning. The feeling makes me want to experience more and live more.
